Extended Learning

Extended learning provides students with an opportunity to embed their knowledge and develop skills outside of the classroom environment on a regular basis. We know from research-based evidence that this approach can be a powerful way for students to maximise their progress over time.

When we designed our Extended Learning programme, we wanted it to be far more than simply a homework task. Several key components emerged from the research and we have embedded these concepts into our Extended Learning programme. This has enabled us to provide students with a consistent approach, whilst considering each subject’s specialist disciplines.

Support materials provided through Google Classroom allow students to retrieve and practise key threshold concepts covered in lessons. Pre-loading knowledge with flip learning and enabling teaching to deepen the curriculum experience in the classroom. Learning checks during lessons provide teachers with an impact measure of these activities, allowing them the opportunity to adapt their teaching to meet the needs of all learners.

The link below contains some helpful information and additional details for students and parents about how this will operate in practice. We recognise that parents will want to support their child with this important aspect of school life and would like to thank you for your support and taking the time to look at this information.
