Headteacher Chris McGrail will be retiring at the end of this academic year after 41 years in teaching and 35 Years at Redhill School. Jamie Clayton, who is the currenty Deputy Headteacher at Redhill, will take over as Headteacher in September.
Students from Year 7 and 8 have been working hard over the last few months reading four preselected books from Booktrust titles in the Library with Mrs Dorrell. Six other schools from Dudley and Sandwell read the same books and also researched the authors ready for the quiz at Dormston Academy on Monday 1st July.
A fitting tribute was held by the Redhill community on the 20th June to remember and celebrate the life of Pierce Wilkinson. The night of commemoration and remembrance began with a gathering of family, friends and staff.
Students at Redhill had the exciting opportunity to work with Read On EU and Writing West Midlands to help write a story for an Anthology with Author Ken Preston. Year 8 students met at workshops in the Learning Centre to discuss plots, characters and story line development. Mr Preston then wrote a short story based on these ideas to go into the book called ‘After Summer & Other Stories’.
This summer we will be launching our new PE Kit, which will be available to purchase for the new academic year. The full Redhill PE uniform will be compulsory for all of our Y7 cohort. However, if any pupils in other year groups wish to purchase the new style kit, or any items that they have outgrown etc., these will be available to order.
On behalf of the Directors of the Stour Vale Trust and Governors of Redhill School we are delighted to confirm the appointment of Mr James Clayton to the post of Headteacher from the 1st September 2019.
I would like to inform you all I have made the decision that this will be my final year at Redhill and I will be retiring as Headteacher at the end of the summer term. After completing 41 years in the teaching profession, I feel it is now time for me take up new challenges outside of school, perhaps at a slower pace.
