Information Technology

Subject Overview

At Redhill we believe that it is important for all students to experience a well-rounded approach to I.T. Throughout key stage 3 all students will experience many aspects of I.T. which include (but is not exclusive to) understanding how your computer works, graphic design, how computers store data, computer aided manufacturing and 3D printing, spreadsheet modelling, games design, database management, developing animations and much more.

This will allow students at Key Stage 4 to make the option choice that is correct for them, we currently offer GCSE Computer Science (OCR) and Cambridge National in iMedia (OCR).

We have 5 dedicated I.T. rooms for students to develop their I.T. knowledge, be it programming the worlds next masterpiece or developing an awarding winning animation. Students work is stored in the cloud and can be accessed from home (via an internet connection). For all homework projects that students complete we focus on using either cloud or open-source software so students can carry out their work at home, or during extended periods of absence. Where I.T. access is not available student can use the I.T. facilities during homework club on a weekday evening.
