Sam P's Jamboree Fundraising
Sam has successfully been selected to go on the World Scout Jamboree to South Korea next August as part of the West Midlands Scouts unit. He is the only scout in Stourbridge to be selected and the first within his group in over 40 years.
As part of the process, the Scouts are required to try and fundraise as much of the cost as possible so over the next few months he will be busy thinking of ideas and plans of lots of different activities. Sam has set up a gofundme https://gofund.me/9cf42202 . He has a lot to do this year to try and raise as much money as possible towards his trip. So far he has been tasked with collecting empty ink cartridges which will be sent off to a company who will pay for them and recycle them.
’I have attended scouts for 6 years in total and have been all the way through beavers and cubs and am currently in scouts. To be selected for this trip, I had to write an application form and then, I attended a selection day where scouts from Sandwell, Dudley, Wolverhampton and Walsall assembled and were assessed on how well they could carry out some activities and how well we could perform certain tasks. From this, 36 scouts and explorers were chosen.
I am extremely grateful to be part of such an exciting event and I will be joining over 40,000 other scouts from all over the world. It will truly be an enriching experience for me, and I can then share my experience and skills I have learnt with other people. It will also develop my cultural understanding of other countries worldwide and allow me to share aspects of our culture with them. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who could help towards achieving my goal and enabling me to take part in this amazing, once in a lifetime adventure by giving any possible donation.’
