WORK EXPERIENCE

Update: Work Experience Week - 19-23 May 2025

This week over 230 pupils from Year 10 are out on Work Experience.

If you need to speak to someone during the week about your child's placement contact Ruth Blackburn on 01384 816337 or Main Reception on 01384 816355, or email rblackburn@redhill.dudley.sch.uk

Your child has been given a Work Experience Booklet which contains our Code of Conduct as well as giving space for them to complete through the week as a record of what they have done and learnt, please feel free to ask to have a look!

If your child is supposed to be on Work Experience but is ill, please contact school through Edulink as normal.

If your child is not on placement then they are expected in school and you will have been contacted separately to confirm their timetable.  If we are expecting a pupil and they do not turn up or if they do not turn up to placement and there is no contact to school, then it will be unauthorised absence.

Work Experience is a very valuable and we hope each of our pupils has a great time during the week.  We are extremely grateful to parents and employers for their support in being able to make this opportunity possible.

At Redhill, we believe that Work Experience is a valuable part of our pupil’s considerations and preparations for their life after school.  This year we are extremely pleased to be able to reintroduce a face-to-face Work Experience programme for all pupils in Year 10.

This week-long work placement puts pupils in a new environment and gives them the exciting opportunity to gain an understanding of the world of work.  The process of finding a placement develops useful skills in self-awareness, research, communication and resilience. During the actual placement they will see, first-hand, the roles, responsibilities and skills associated with real working days.  The experience will help self-confidence and give pupils a chance to improve important life skills. Furthermore, this is a superb opportunity for pupils to gain an understanding of the work place that they may be interested in pursuing; allowing them to decide if this is the right pathway for them.

Why is Work Experience so important?

If you are an employer and would be interested in offering a Work Experience placement to one (or several) of our pupils please contact Ruth Blackburn, rblackburn@redhill.dudley.sch.uk
